I have been approached by the local schools to create a show with the theme, "Fitness, Nutrition, and Healthy Living". Anyone with any ideas out there?

Hi I'm Chris Curley amateur magician wishing all magicians good luck for the future. I wud like to request advice on all types of magic as I am undecided on which to focus on. As i mainly do card tricks which I would say was my speciality and of course coin tricks so I suppose mainly advice on Close-Up Magic. I've recently went to the magic convention in Blackpool England an it was amazing to see so many magicians in one place as it was my first convention. Anyways like I said I love to hear any…

This might be a dumb question, with all the shops out there, but I am looking for a few magic stores online with good pricing. I want to put together a kit to teach children this summer and choose magic that they will use. I find most kids magic kits to have tricks they will never learn or use. They are financially challenged, if that is PC enough to say they are in low income families. If anyone wants to donate used stuff it is tax deductible. I have my non-profit status, and let me tell you, i…

I first saw this effect in Jay's newsletter, I think it was the Aug. 2008 issue, and I've not forgot it. I am not a master of coins, so I am always looking for a coin routine I can do that makes it 'appear' as if I can perform a trick or two.. This effect, re-written in my own words, fits the bill perfectly......
(This effect was just published in the Magic Roadshow.

In April, I will be sending out a study guide to our SAM Assembly members on the topic of LIQUID MAGIC. I have pretty much collected the effects that are being sold by various dealers and addressed those used in standard texts like Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic. Right now, I am doing extensive searches on Google and other Search Engines, looking for examples/links on line which will help to back up and supplement the printed material.
Any links to liquid-magic bibliographies, individua…

I must, to begin, admit to being a semi-luddite. Blogging is new to me. In fact, this is my first attempt. I am a professional magician, IBM and SAM member, living and working in Ottumwa, Iowa. I am a part-time pro, working in physical therapy to pay my bills. I am also a published writer and playwright, martial arts instructor, certified locksmith, poet, and a lot of other stuff too boring to list here. Hello, I look forward to communicating with you all. Keep Believing! Bill Bowman (AKA: Willi…

Irwin,
I checked with Lord Google and found the following interesting information:
It would appear that the librarian's guide has a lot of suggested topics, by month, for the year.
I have found a couple of webs where entertainers have used the guide to put together their promotional material to help them get library shows. Also, I found one web which looks like a librarian outline of suggestions. Here they are:

- Check out the "technical/co…

Okay, let us put this web to work for ourselves....
I am collecting ON-LINE articles and suggestions about how to put together a winning magic contest. The material will be shared with my fellow Assembly 206 members in a study guide for June. I can use the material before 1 May.
Any suggestions would be appreciated and may include sample judging forms, checklists of rules, general performance suggestions, etc.
I am thankful to Rick for creating a web such as this, where we can share growth an…

Just for the record, in case you think I'm a slacker, I have four magic sites, three marketing sites, two blogs, one Las Vegas site, one YouTube type video site, one Traffic Exchange site and a partridge in a pear... wait a minute..
And my biggie.. Real Clear Hosting (
